Yes, thats true. And that too from Sony. An alarm clock with a brochure saying “how to set alarm”. Though it is a CD player which has alarm clock inside, but seems like Sony has shortage of good designers.. no?

Another one, an interesting “exit” signage in a hotel of Las Vegas (Courtsey: good experience blog). Now after looking at this signage, i question myself, where do a person go to exit?

May I comment on your “unusable” items here?
- the Sony clock has quite the natural feel when setting it as long as one is used to setting alarm clocks… The instructions are there for those who aren’t used to setting alarm clocks. The presence of instructions in a hotel room should maybe be seen as a sign of courtesy rather than “unusability” of the alarm clock (NO, I do not work for the hotel; YES, I have used that alarm clock before).
- the Exit sign: the red Exit signs are there IN CASE OF FIRE only, not to be used on a regular basis. There are probably fancy signs on the walls of the hallways, directing the hotel guest to a proper fancy reception area with proper width doors and customer service on hand, rather than to a concrete, baren stairwell that might just take you to another building (again, in case of fire only!). Not exactly a design issue.
I am sure there are better examples of “unusability” and “bad design” that can be found on the web than these two. Keep searching!
