What is the future PC? How would it look like, interms of form, structure, interaction and many more. Though it is quite old, but interesting concept were presented at Futuristic PC by microsoft in 2008. Cnet has presented all the concept here. I am showing the winner entry which is Napkin PC. I found it interesting in a way where it is an open ended concept that can be taken further in any domain a designer could think of. If we look at other projects, then they were focused on one specific domain, which in a way is required.

“A multi-user, multi-interface, modular computer designed for creative professionals to collaborate and bring their greatest ideas to life”. The interface consists of any number of ‘Napkins’ and a ‘Pen’. When powered by the Pen, the Napkin is a multi-touch input display that responds to human touch as well as the Pen “

future computing or say.. ubicomp
June 18, 2009 at 8:28 am | In future | 3 CommentsWhat is future of our everyday life? As technology has increased, designers are going hand in hand with technology & building useful products, applications & services, what our future says!! Tomorrow computers will be no more computers, they will be in form of small chips embeded in our everyday life objects, making our life simpler & easier. We will be always connected, to doctor for health issues, friends, unknown people, colleagues & our loved once. For sure there are privacy issues, but future of computing seems like this:
“Physicist and futurist Michio Kaku discusses the idea of Ubiquitous Computing. He describes it as “an invisible intelligent network hidden in our walls, our furniture, even our clothing.”

It is always interesting to know different perspective and views of different people about the context. Currently i was discussing different domains of interaction design with one of my friend and ended up talking about futuristic design and the term ended up saying “design for day after tomorrow“. I am still confused about the term, but interesting way of representing so called “future”.
